Who We Are
The Butterfly Effect Trauma Response & Treatment Foundation was founded in 2022 by Dr. Lisa M. Wineburg to address the community’s needs through trauma treatment and response. Dr. Wineburg is a retired New Orleans Firefighter and a Trauma Specialist, so she has provided her vast trauma expertise in the creation of this foundation. The foundation specializes in trauma-based mentorship programs, support groups, and training to help reduce the overall lasting effects of trauma exposure. They also have plans to implement a “Trauma Response Team” dedicated to responding to onsite trauma-related incidents, which is in its infancy stage.
BFE was named after the phenomenon known as “The Butterfly Effect,” which believes that a small change in a complex system can have larger effects elsewhere. BFE’s primary focus is to make a small difference in someone’s life to foster positive change in that person’s future.
Our Mission
Our mission is to reach those affected by trauma and provide them with support, education, and mentorship. We strive to make a difference by approaching them in a safe, respectful, and supportive way. We believe that to circumvent the damaging effects of trauma, we must address the issue when it occurs to change the outcome because changing that one thing in someone’s life can change everything.
Our Vision
Our vision is to provide trauma-based services to those in need to eliminate prolonged negative mental health outcomes.
